Prepare your body

Prepare for dancing and the heat by taking hot yoga or training outside so that you can get used to the humidity. Try even taking daily hot baths in the summer. This will prepare you for dancing in the heat.
Obviously, if you are doing any kind of exercise at any time of the year, you are bound to sweat. Staying hydrated is the best way to keep your body going without running the risk of heat cramps, stroke or exhaustion. Drinking plenty of water before, during and after dancing is the key to staying on top of your dancing game. Also, have a sports drink to replace the electrolytes that you lose through sweat, especially if you are working hard for several hours at a stretch.
Get out the fan
When the air around you is moving, your sweat will evaporate easier. Keep a fan in the studio and visit it in between routines. If there is a breeze outside, get those windows open to circulate the air inside.
Wear the right stuff
Find the right dancewear to keep your body hydrated. There is dancewear available in light, sweat-wicking fabrics. If you are in a heavy, heat-trapping costume, however, let your skin air out whenever you can backstage. Find a fan if you can and stand in front of it between your routines.
Keep wet towels and ice cubes near you when you are practicing. Use them to cool your skin during breaks. The longer you can keep your skin temperature down, the longer you can keep the effect of the heat at bay.
